"Vanitas"
My favorite still life images are Dutch vanitas paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries. Within these paintings are a variety of hidden images rendered with great detail such as fruit, wilting flowers, insects, and sea shells.

My artwork is largely influenced by traditional vanitas motifs. Often times I combine botanical imagery with bones and distorted forms of plants, insects, and animals to create hybrid compositions and installations.
